Strike's top tips to a perfect CV!
Are you struggling with the content of your CV? Your CV is going to be your way of communicating with potential employers and giving them an insight into your skillset and your personal life. A few rules should be followed to ensure you have the best chance of recruiters and employers getting the right message from your CV.
Keep your CV at a maximum of 2 A4 pages, most recruiters and employers look through 100s, sometimes 1000s of CVs for 1 job role, Keep your points succinct. A life story is not necessary! Neither is Repetition!
2. Tailor-Made CV’s get you Jobs
The temptation will always be there to send the same CV over and over to each different Job Role. Stop! Tailor your CV based on analysis of the Job specification, making sure you have included all relevant skills the recruiter or employer has highlighted, Researching the company prior to applying is also key, you will find valuable information about them which is will aid you in Tailoring your CV.
3. Mind the Gap!
Employers and Recruiters are wary of obvious gaps in your CV, If you have a gap in your CV, don’t let that put you off! Inform them what you done to keep yourself productive. It could be a Training course you participated in, or a volunteer position you worked at.
4. Avoid Mistakes & Lying
Your CV is a reflection of you as a person, so if you’re not checking your CV for grammatical errors and typo’s, then that will be the impression you are giving your potential employer. Do not lie on your CV, in the majority of cases employers will look at references and do background checks, so will be able to deduce if you are telling the truth or not.
