Job Description

We are recruiting for experienced Minute Takers to work with the London Borough of Merton, based in the Civic Centre in Morden, as a Minute Taker for Child Protection Conferences.


You will require an in date fully enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service.


Job Role:

  1. To provide a comprehensive administrative service maintaining confidential, accurate information about children looked after and children subject to child protection plans.

i.                     Update databases related to the safeguarding of children

ii.                   Collate and maintain management information regarding Looked After Children, children subject to child protection plans and reviews.

  1. To control the LAC and CP review diary to a high degree of accuracy and ensure reviews take place within tightly defined time limits defined by Government Regulation and guidance.


3.        To ensure accurate and contemporary data collection and collation for performance management purposes.




As administrator, you will have responsibility for the following core tasks and outputs:-


1.         Respond to enquiries about children, ensuring that standards of confidentiality are maintained.


2.         To gather, collate and present in graphical and tabular form, management information with regards to the LAC/CP data and other associated sources of management information. Using the in-house database MOSAIC and software such as Excel to develop, maintain and monitor the effectiveness of information systems in QAPD and to liaise with practitioners and managers within CSF to ensure that systems operate efficiently and produce reliable data.


4.         Produce summarised information from the confidential databases at regular intervals and as required.


5.         The administrator has responsibility for arranging LAC/CP initial and review meetings and ensuring that information is distributed.


6.         Provide administrative support to Children’s Social Care Quality Assurance programmes in relation to safeguarding children and looked after children.  To undertake general administrative support tasks.


7.         To prepare the quarterly data returns for the London Safeguards Children’s Board and Corporate quarterly performance monitoring and any other internal and external management reports


8.         Provide administrative service within the Quality Assurance & Practice Development team to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency, including providing accurate written records of child protection conferences and relevant strategy meetings in line with statutory requirements and confidentiality. 


9.         Meet timescales as identified in written policies or as agreed with the IRO Manager.


10.       The administrator (LAC) and the Administrator (CP) posts are required to support each other’s work as necessary.
