The Company is looking for a talented Pastry Chef for one of their most successful and busy restaurants in Southampton. The position is permanent and can be full time or part time with hours as agreed. This restaurant is registered on Trip Advisor as one of the top 20 restaurants in Southampton.
Looking for someone who has flair and ambition, and who wants to develop and create great pastries, and desserts for the restaurant's ala carte menu, including scones and patisseries for afternoon teas.
Customers expect a great experience every time they visit any of the Company's, Restaurants and Bars. Together as a team it's your job to ensure that the customer's expectations are met and hopefully exceeded, (continuing or improving their 4.5 star Trip Advisor rating).
Key Features of the Role:
Able to create and define desserts and pastries experiences for restaurant customers, and for corporate events, on a regular basis. With a desire to build your reputation and culinary distinction and trend. All food is prepared on site using the best ingredients that are in season, and local where possible, using carefully sourced suppliers.
You will work alongside the Head Chef and help assist them in developing a best team approach. As team work is required throughout the whole group and one of their core principles. As a team, you will help influence an effective kitchen and help achieve a good gross profit and efficient ordering / stock control.
Working either full time or part time hours, ranging from a minimum of 16 hours per week to a maximum which can be agreed, up to 5 days per week, shift patterns are shared across Monday to Sunday. With the Evening and Weekend Tea's as well as corporate events / private functions being the main requirements.
Organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a very busy restaurant where the reputation for consistently preparing cooking and presenting dishes to the right quality is second to none.
As Pastry Chef, you will set the highest standards of food quality, consistency and hygiene, as you will be working in very busy kitchen environment, needing you to demonstrate good attention to detail.
Knowledge and Skills:
The Company is looking for that special talent whose ethos is based on the fact that if you have the ingredients and the time then nothing should be off the menu to a customer. Not just what is on the menu is all that is served.
This opportunity will suit an experienced or talented Pastry Chef or Baker who wants to make that break into a very busy and established kitchen producing desserts for corporate dining and prestigious private function events, as well as for al restaurant guests.
You must have a Pastry / Bakery Chef kitchen background, having developed your career and experience through tenures of employment or educational qualifications.
The Company would like someone who has been a creative force in their own kitchen and who wants to make a name for themselves in Southampton as an outstanding Pastry Chef.

What's on Offer?
Hourly salary from £7.50 - £8.50 based on experience levels and competency.
Salary and working hours review after successful completion of probation period. As the successful candidate could look to learn and develop other Chef skills as a CDP or Sous Chef.

A contracted amount of hours to work per week, as well as additional hours if required.
