Our client is an established organisation and specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of electronic/electrical products and sub systems in the international power, defence, rail and aerospace markets.
Our client is an internationally successful defence, security, transport and energy Company, with a long and consistent track record of development and growth.
They provide innovative, high-technology power conversion and control solutions, signature management systems, underwater measurement ranges and high integrity sensors for a variety of strategically important defence applications.
They are considered a leader in their fields of expertise and has a worldwide customer base.
The successful Power Electronics Engineer will support the design, manufacture and supply novel power dense static converters and motors.
You will be responsible for delivering robust and cost effective power electronic solutions to a range of niche applications such as submarine power systems, high integrity power supplies, naval propulsion and specialist industrial drive systems.
You will become involved in all stages of the engineering lifecycle; from concept through to verification and validation of production systems. As part of a team, you will develop power electronic solutions that successfully meet the overall objectives of the project.
The successful Power Electronics Engineer will be educated to degree level or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or a related discipline.
In addition, you will have a broad knowledge and understanding of power converter design and application.
Ideally, you will have worked on power electronic products operating from 400V ac supplies and switching in excess of 100 Amps.
Preferably you will have a detailed understanding of digital control of asynchronous and permanent magnet machines, and an ability to use simulation tools such as MATLAB and Simulink, although training can be provided on simulation tools.
You will have a proven track record of product design and verification in a relevant environment.
You will be a strong communicator and will possess the ability to work as part of a team or as an individual. You will have the ability and willingness to work to processes and procedures.

Salary is up to £55,000 pa depending on experience.
