JOB TITLE: Sales & Warehouse Assistant / Customer Service Advisor 
SALARY & BENEFITS: £17680 + benefits 
WORKING HOURS: Full Time Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm 

THE COMPANY: Our client was established in 1989 and has been manufacturing and supplying quality lime products for the care and conservation of historic buildings for over 25 years. 

They stock the widest range of building limes of any supplier in the UK with 6 Natural Hydraulic Limes, Natural Cement, Lime putty and Quicklime. With the addition of their Multi Use Lime Binders for modern construction they have building limes to suit almost every requirement. They offer a range of dry bagged lime mortars from their “Mix & Go range” that can be offered in 400 standard colours via colourpacks, or pre-blended to order. Additionally, they have a complimentary range of damp and kiln dried sands, pigments, aggregates and over 300 tools and accessories to assist the applicator in achieving a high standard of work.

THE ROLE: Working as a Sales & Warehouse Assistant / Customer Service Advisor you will be serving both trade and retail customers in their branch. Your duties will include dealing with customers on a day to day basis and building solid long-term relationships. 

You will be responsible for ensuring that customer orders are ready for collection when specified whilst ensuring minimum stock damage and accurate picking of stock for orders. 

Key Duties for the Sales & Warehouse Assistant / Customer Service Advisor's role :-

  • Serving customers at the sales counter in their shop, providing a very professional and friendly service for all face to face enquires, telephone orders & call handling, e-mails, fax and letters
  • Ensuring the safe and accurate loading of customer orders from our warehouse & shop floor
  • Serving customers in the yard to ensure customer orders are fulfilled fully
  • Accurately processing all forms of counter sales transactions; cash, credit & debit card (chip & pin and contactless), BACS payments & all account customer transactions using the correct documentation / EPOS system
  • To liaise with other members of staff & their Technical Director to make sure that all technical queries are dealt with fully and that detailed specification support is provided at the appropriate level
  • To assemble customer orders in the warehouse so that they are ready for uplift or collection by couriers / transport companies, which may require the use of a counterbalance forklift truck
  • Ensuring all stock is safely stored & date rotated and protected against damage
  • Check stock levels & advise when stocks are low, so they can be re-ordered in good time
  • To keep the tools, accessories & shop products well replenished and merchandised
  • Dealing with damages effectively and promptly
  • Driving company vehicles safely to deliver customer orders or make site to site transfers
  • Ensuring personal compliance with all Health and Safety obligations

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for the Sales & Warehouse Assistant / Customer Service Advisor position will have excellent communication skills and a friendly and helpful approach at all times as this is predominantly a customer facing sales role. You will be able to demonstrate great customer service skills & the ability to manage tasks and time effectively in an often busy, trade counter environment. This role requires frequent lifting & loading of 25Kg bags of mortar, so the candidates should be physically fit and able to carry out heavy lifting

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Sales & Warehouse Assistant / Customer Service Advisor's role in Glasgow :-

  • Must have previous experience in customer facing role and ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Must have excellent communication skills both spoken and written
  • Must be physically fit and able to carry heavy bags of mortar and lime (25Kg)
  • An interest in buildings, architecture and/or conservation would be useful
  • Must be IT literate and have experience compiling and sending emails 
  • Must live within commutable distance to Glasgow
